Do you suffer from hyper pigmentation, acne scarring, or dark spots like I DO???

I have some tips and tricks that will help you deal with those marks that are trying to ruin our lives.😠

Here is almost EVERYTHING in I know about Hyperpigmentation!

---------------------------------------

What is Hyperpigmentation?: Discoloration or dark spots on the skin, may also appear in patches. Skin can produce excess pigment due to sun exposure, inflammation, cuts & bruises, or acne.

Once the Melanocyte is inflamed it can cause a chain reaction to an enzyme which is called Tyrosinase this, triggers the contribution of melanin.

Sunscreen is very important to help protect the skin from further darkening the pigmentation. I usually wear SPF 20-30 in the Winter and SPF 50+ in the Summer! SPF in your makeup is great but it isn't enough if you have hyperpigmentation. I suggest purchasing a SPF that is made for the face. I enjoy the Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Lotion SPF 50. It protects, hydrates, and doesn't leave a residue. It is perfect for makeup application. I use a dime size amount for the whole face and neck!

Some of my favorite products to treat hyperpigmentation:

1. Clinique 3 Step: Basic skin care; Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize. I enjoy using the Sonic System Cleansing brush 2x a day to gently exfoliate the skin. Healthy skin is always more receptive to repair, so it is important to start with a skin care routine.

2. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant: One of my favorite, everyday, exfoliants. This helps to gently exfoliate the dead skin and instantly leaves your skin smoother and brighter.

3. Paula's Choice Dark Spot Eraser Lotion: I love this treatment for dark spots. The glycolic acid in this product really helps to resurface the skin and virtually erase the pigmentation and discoloration. I usually apply it night.

4. Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector:  My Holy GRAIL 🙌product! I will never be without this, ever. This a prescription strength serum helps to improve the appearance of dark spots in just 4 weeks. It also helps to calm down the skin and provide a more even skin tone!

Professional Treatment: Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?: Chemical exfoliation that is applied to the skin, usually in liquid form, to peel and cause new skin cells to regenerate. This treatment is great for skin with hyper pigmentation because it will slough off dead skin and the pigmented skin cells and allow the renewal of new skin cells.

I know having dark spots on our face can be annoying and we may feel insecure about them. But we have to remember how common hyperpigmentation is, especially in men and women of color. It is important to use products that will help to exfoliate the skin and protect the skin with SPF! Also, it is a good idea to see a skin care professional to recommend products and skin treatments that will be suit YOUR BEST SKIN!
