Skincare in YOUR 20's!

Welcome back!!! I'm eager to announce that I'm going to start a new series on my blog where we will discuss skin characteristics in different age groups and how to effectively take care of it. Today we are starting with skin care in your 20s! Let's talk about what to expect... 

 Your 20s is the time to really start taking care of your skin! Your 20s is the foundation that helps to determine how your skin will look and age as you get older. It's never to early to start a skin care regimen and as you progress in you 20s it's the perfect time to start!

After our teenage years we expect our skin to go back to "normal" and to say goodbye to breakouts and skin problems forever. In out 20s, it is crucial to take care of our skin in order to prepare for the future. 

Here are 7 Things you Should do for your Skin in your Early 20s!

- Cleanse your skin 2x a day! It is important to keep your skin clear of dirt, debris, makeup, and pollution. These things can cause aging. I recommend a gel or a foaming cleanser. Shop my favorite cleanser, here! 

- Start using eye cream! Remember, I always say it's never too early or too late to use eye cream. The eye area is the first to show signs of aging and has some of the thinnest skin on the face. It is important to keep that area hydrated. Shop my favorite eye cream, here!

- Use protection! - Always, in the bedroom (too) 😉... but we're talking about your FACE. Use sun screen to protect your beautiful skin from the harmful UV/UVB rays. The sun can cause lasting damage to the skin. It is important to include SPF in your daily routine. Shop my favorite moisturizer with SPF, here!

- Start applying antioxidants! - Never to early to start using Vitamin C on the skin. Vitamin C helps to plump your skin, slows the process of collagen break down, and helps to create and even canvas.  Shop a Vitamin C serum, here!

- Exfoliation! - As we progress in our 20s, our skin cell turnover and metabolism is quick. However, it is important to use a gentle exfoliation to get rid of the access dead skin cells. Shop my favorite exfoliation product, here!

Start making smart choices! - In our 20s, we have tons of energy! It is important to use that energy for good. Join a gym, a yoga studio, a spin class, or go for a walk around the block. Staying active keeps you and your skin looking younger.. longer! If you make this a habit now, as we get older it will be easy and simple. 

STAY HYDRATED!  -drink more water.. less alcohol. Social drinking won't kill us but is important to be mindful what we are putting into our young bodies. How we treat our bodies and our skin now, WILL catch up to us later and show in our skin.

On our 21st Birthday that usually means tons of alcohol and then it's off to the races!!! Although I love a glass of wine or a margarita on the rocks just like the next person, it is important to remember that alcohol dehydrates your skin. Alcohol breaks down the collagen in our skin faster.. which would produce fine lines and wrinkles faster. We don't want that...

My TIPS for consuming alcohol:

- Order a water when you order your alcoholic beverage. 

- If you get a hangover, drink COCONUT WATER for fast hydration!

- Use a hydrating sheet mask the day after consumption of alcohol. 

So basically, our 20s are crucial.. so don't mess it up! 😃 No but really.. It is important to start taking care of our skin in our 20s. Make sure you remove your makeup effectively at night, drink your water, apply your sun screen. Take care of your skin NOW, you future self will thank you for it.
