Hey friends! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Today I’m sharing some ‘lucky’ ingredients that are used to treat dark spots. So you know what to look for when shopping around if you have this skin concern. Thanks for stopping by.

What is hyperpigmentation? This is described as a skin condition where there are patches of ‘pigmented’ skin cells. The discoloration comes from an accumulation of melanin skin cells.

Glycolic Acid: This powerful ingredient can treat dark spots by dissolving the dead, pigmented, skin cells and revealing healthy skin cells.

Retinoid: This ingredient increases skin cell turnover. So new renewed skin cells can be revealed faster and the pigmented skin cells start to fade away.

Kojic Acid: This ingredient helps to fade dark spots and lighten overall skin tone by helping to block pigmented skin cells production. This really helps with a skin condition called melasma.

Vitamin C: This antioxidant ingredient helps to treat dark spots by neutralizing free radical activity which can cause pigmented skin cells.

Lactic Acid: Often used in chemical peels. This mild ingredient is used to slough off the dead, pigmentated, skin cells and is usually safe for sensitive skin types.

Niacinamide: This ingredient is also known as Vitamin B3, is also an antioxidant to help soothe and protect the skin from damage that can cause pigmented skin cells.
