Hey friends! Welcome back to my blog. Today’s post about saying Goodbye to Dark Spots!

Dark spots are easily one of the most annoying skin conditions ever. It is so common and effects almost everyone. Dark spots are another word for Hyperpigmentation and occur when there is an increase production of melanin in the skin. This is usually the case when there is some type of trauma to the skin, like acne.

Dark spots can fade on their own but it can take much longer than we want to.

When treating dark spots, I recommend exfoliation, treatment, and protection. Exfoliating the dead skin cells are important, so we can treat the pigmented skin cells, and then protect the skin from future dark spots.

Olehenriksen Dark Spot Toner: I use this toner only at night! It contains AHAs which are exfoliants that help to treat dark spots. It helps to resurface and fade dark spots, as well as fine lines and wrinkles.

Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant: This leave on exfoliant is great at improving skin tone and aiding in discoloration in the skin as well as unclogging pores, and smoothing away wrinkles.

Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Serum: Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to reduce free radical damage that can cause dark spots. It also brightens the skin tone. This is one of my favorite Vitamin C serums because it penetrates the skin cells so well and is so effective.

Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol Treatment: I have been using this to further get rid of dark spots and stimulate collagen production. Read more about Retinol here

Clinique Even Better Serum: This serum has been one of my favorites for a lonnnggg time. I used to work at the Clinique counter in 2015. This serum targets dark spots and inflammation, and helps to prevent new spots from forming. I use this daily.. morning + night.

Unseen Sunscreen: This is my current favorite facial sunscreen. I love everything from Supergoop actually!!! Sunscreen is very important when treating any skin condition especially dark spots. This helps to further prevent damage and keep the current dark spots from getting worse. If you are treating dark spots and not using sun protection, you are wasting your time!! You can not do one without the other.

Skin care treatments at the spa help dark spots as well like Chemical Peels. Chemical Peels help to resurface the skin by getting rid of the dead, pigmented skin cells, and allowing the healthy ones to shine through. Read more about Chemical Peels here
